Powering the AP400/AP300

The AP400/AP300 can only be powered using Power over Ethernet (PoE) 802.3af. A PoE switch is a
switched hub that also provides power over the spare pairs. The switch can be used with other devices
than the IP telephones and detects whether or not power is needed. Using a PoE switch makes it easier
to protect the IP telephones from loss of power (connection of the PoE switch to an UPS).

Updating the AP400 and ML440/G566/G266 System Firmware

The firmware on base stations and handsets is updated remotely using the HTTP configuration interface
to download firmware files from a TFTP server. Updating base station firmware involves an automatic
reboot of the base station at the end of the firmware download. This will drop any active calls and in
addition updating the handset firmware can take several hours. It is recommended updates are
performed after normal business hours.
