Interim Local
Management
Interface (ILMI)
ILMI Management
Information Base
(MIB)
The Interim Local Management Interface (ILMI) is the local management
interface used in the CoreBuilder 9000 ATM Enterprise Switch. It supports
the bi-directional exchange of management information between ATM
users and the CoreBuilder 9000 ATM Enterprise Switch to which they are
connected.
The ILMI provides status, configuration, statistics, and control information
about link and physical layer parameters at the UNI. In addition, it
provides for address registration across the UNI. ILMI communications use
SNMP directly over the AAL5.
The ILMI consists of the following objects, which reside in each ATM
device participating in the UNI:
ILMI MIB — A management database
UME — Management software that executes the ILMI functions
ILMI functions
Information about managed objects is stored in a virtual information
store termed the Management Information Base or MIB. Each object
defined in the MIB has a name, a syntax, and an encoding. The UNI ILMI
objects are organized in a standard MIB structure; there is one UNI ILMI
MIB structure instance for each side of the UNI side.
The following types of management information are stored in the ILMI
ATM UNI MIB:
Physical Layer information
ATM Layer information
ATM Layer Statistics information
Virtual Path Connections (VPC) information
Virtual Channel Connections (VCC) information
Address Registration information
