Building a High-performance OC-12 Campus Network
Figure 9 illustrates how the entire network is expanded to a
high-performance network (2). Typical campus networks were built using
OC-3 as backbone links between buildings and OC-3 between campuses
in the MAN.
The advent of new applications necessitates a high-performance
high-bandwidth with OC-12. Campus applications use the OC-12 MMF
interface, and MAN applications use the OC-12 SMF SR interface.
High-density Server Farm Applications
Figure 9 illustrates how you can connect servers to the CoreBuilder 9000
ATM Enterprise Switch via OC-12 (3).
The CoreBuilder 9000 ATM Enterprise Switch high-density OC-3 and
OC-12 ports (22 OC-12 and 88 OC-3 ports per CoreBuilder 9000 ATM
Enterprise Switch) allow the implementation of high-density server farm
applications.
