    VERVIEW This chapter describes the ATM Interface Module and presents the basic configurations that are available. ATM Interface The ATM Interface Module interfaces with the ATM Switch Fabric Module Module Description to create the ATM Enterprise Switch system. You can order the ATM Interface Module in several configurations, according to your specific needs.

  • Page 37 Installing the OC-12c/STM-4 Daughter Card To install the OC-12c/STM-4 card in the left cutout, perform the following procedure: 1 Hold the card with the beige bridge connector facing downward and the protective plugs facing forward. 2 Hold the card at a ~20° angle to the horizontal and insert the card into the left cutout from the back of the ATM Interface Carrier Module (Figure 16).

    1 With a #2 flat-blade screwdriver, loosen the large screws. 2 Remove the faceplate and put it aside for future use. If you are not using a particular slot at this time, 3Com recommends that you leave its protective faceplate on.

Make sure that the top and bottom edges are in the same slot.

    You can install up to six ATM Interface Modules in slots 1 through 6. Slot numbers are located on the left of the chassis for easy identification. The CoreBuilder 9000 7-slot chassis is shipped with slots 1 and 7 open; blank faceplates cover the remaining slots. An additional slot, slot 8, which is also open, is reserved for the EME module.

    ONNECTING TO THE ETWORK This chapter describes how to connect each of the ports to network devices.
