ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT TEST
The sending u n i t provides a resistance t h a t varies
w i t h oil pressure to the oil pressure gauge (Fig. 9).
(1) To test the sending unit, measure the resis-
tance between the sending u n i t t e r m i n a l and t h e
metal housing. The ohmmeter should read between
zero and t e n ohms.

Diagnosis
(2) Start the engine. The ohmmeter should read
between 30 and 55 ohms, depending on engine speed,
oil temperature, and oil viscosity.
(3) I f the above results are not obtained, replace
the switch.
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH TEST
(1) To test the normally closed oil lamp circuit, dis-
connect the locking connector and measure the resis-
tance between the switch t e r m i n a l and the metal
housing. The ohmmeter should read zero ohms.
(2) Start the engine. I f there is oil pressure, the
ohmmeter should read an open circuit. I f not, replace
switch.
