DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION (Continued)
PASSENGER AIRBAI OI/OFF SWITCH
A Passenger Airbag O N / O F F Switch located on the
i n s t r u m e n t panel allows the passenger side airbag
module to be disabled when certain child restraint
devices are being used i n the r i g h t seating position.
The passenger airbag O N / O F F switch is equipped
w i t h a key cylinder so t h a t the switch position can
only be changed using an i g n i t i o n key. When the
i g n i t i o n switch is i n the O N position and the passen-
ger side airbag is disabled, a L i g h t - E m i t t i n g Diode
( L E D ) illuminates an " O F F " indicator lamp on the
face plate of the switch.
To actuate the passenger airbag O N / O F F switch,
insert the ignition key i n the switch key cylinder.
The switch key cylinder is then rotated w i t h the i g n i -
t i o n key to its clockwise stop (the key cylinder slot
w i l l be aligned w i t h the O F F indicator lamp) to dis-
able the passenger side airbag. W h e n the passenger
airbag O N / O F F switch key cylinder is rotated w i t h
the ignition key to its counterclockwise stop (the key
cylinder slot w i l l be i n a vertical position), the O F F
indicator lamp, w i l l be extinguished and the passen-
ger side airbag module w i l l once again be enabled.

cable. I f the airbag system is undeployed, w a i t two
minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before
further service.
(2) Connect the DRB I I I scan tool to the 16-way
data l i n k connector. The connector is located under
the lower left edge of the i n s t r u m e n t panel, outboard
of the steering column (Fig. 1).
(3) T u r n the ignition switch to the O n position.
