Road test the vehicle and make several stops
to wear off any foreign m a t e r i a l on the brakes and to
seat the brake shoe linings. See Brake B u r n i s h Pro-
cedure i n the Service Procedures section i n this
group of the service manual for the procedure i f
N E W brake shoes were installed.
CHASSIS BRAKE TUBES AND HOSES
Always use factory recommended brake hose to
ensure quality, correct length and superior fatigue
life. Care should be taken to make sure t h a t the tube
and hose m a t i n g surfaces are clean and free from
nicks and burrs. F r o n t r i g h t a n d l e f t s i d e hoses
a r e not, i n t e r c h a n g e a b l e .
Connections should be correct and properly made.
Use new copper seal washers on a l l connections
using Banjo Bolts and tighten a l l fittings to their
specified torques.
The
flexible
front hydraulic brake hose should
always be installed on the vehicle by first attaching
the Banjo connector to the caliper assembly. Then
bolt the hose bracket to the front hub and bearing
attaching bolt allowing the bracket to position the
hose to prevent twisting. A t t a c h the hose to the
frame and steel brake tubing. Tighten a l l fittings t o
specified torque.
I n s t a l l rear brake hoses first to the caliper assem-
bly
fluid
fitting,
then attach the bolt holding hose
bracket to caliper assembly. This procedure w i l l m i n -
imize the potential for the flex hose t w i s t i n g upon
installation. A t t a c h the hose to the frame and steel
brake tube. Tighten a l l fittings to specified torque.
Refer to (Fig. 98) for the proper brake tube routing,
clipping and clip locations on vehicle.
