(14) Remove the steering gear from the vehicle by
sliding i t out left front fender well, forward of the
steering knuckle (Fig. 13).

(1) Install
steering gear back i n vehicle using
reverse order of removal through the left front fender
w e l l (Fig. 13).

(2) A l i g n steering gear w i t h steering gear mount-
ing brackets. Install the 2 steering gear to mounting
bracket attaching bolts and steering gear shims (Fig.
11). Snug down the 2 steering gear to mounting
bracket attaching bolts to hold the steering gear
shims i n place.

(3) Using Adapter, Special Tool 6632 (Fig. 14),
torque both steering gear mounting bolts to 203 N-m
(150 ft. lbs.). When using Adapter, Special Tool 6632,
for final torquing of steering gear mounting bolts.
Torque wrench must be positioned as shown i n (Fig.
15) to accurately torque the mounting bolts.
(4) Install the outer tie r o d ends on t h e steering
knuckles. Install the tie rod end to steering knuckle
attaching nuts. Tighten the tie rod end castle nuts to
a torque of 51 N-m (38 ft. lbs.). Install cotter pins i n
tie rod ends (Fig, 6).

the stabilizer
bar and retainers
against frame rails. Install the 4 attaching bolts for
the stabilizer bar bushing retainers. Tighten the sta-
bilizer bar bushing retainer attaching bolts to a
torque of 23 N - m (200 i n . lbs.).
(6) Install the wheels and tires. Tighten the wheel
mounting stud nuts i n proper sequence u n t i l all nuts
are torqued to h a l f specification. Then repeat the
tightening sequence to the full specified torque of 122
N - m (90 ft. lbs.).
