REMOVAL A N D INSTALLATION (Continued)
pedal as far down as possible. Then i n s t a l l switch i n
bracket by aligning index key on switch w i t h slot at
top of square hole i n mounting bracket. W h e n switch
is fully installed i n bracket, rotate switch clockwise
approximately 30° to lock switch into bracket.

If to m u c h f o r c e i s u s e d , d a m a g e to t h e s t o p l a m p
s w i t c h o r s t r i k e r ( F i g . 140) c a n r e s u l t .
(4) Gently p u l l back on brake pedal u n t i l the pedal
stops moving. This w i l l cause the switch plunger to
ratchet backward to the correct position.

REMOVE
(1)
Remove the master cylinder from the vacuum
booster. See Master Cylinder i n the Removal A n d
Installation section i n this group of the service man-
ual for the procedure.
(2)
Thoroughly clean the master cylinder housing
and brake fluid reservoir.
(3)
U s i n g a syringe or other equivalent tool,
empty a l l brake fluid from the reservoir.
(4) U s i n g a p i n punch (Fig. 141) remove the 2 r o l l
pins retaining the brake fluid reservoir to the master
cylinder.

While p u l l i n g u p w a r d on the reservoir, rock i t
from side to side to remove the reservoir from the
sealing grommets (Fig. 142).

Remove the master cylinder-to-fluid reservoir
seal grommets from the master cylinder (Fig. 143).

Lubricate the N E W seal grommets for the
fluid reservoir (Fig. 143) w i t h fresh clean fresh brake
fluid.
Then i n s t a l l new housing-to-reservoir grom-
mets i n master cylinder housing.
(2)
Lubricate the fluid reservoir mounting area
w i t h clean fresh brake fluid. Place fluid reservoir i n
the correct position over the seal grommets (Fig.
142). Seat the fluid reservoir into the master cylinder
