The front disc brake caliper on the Viper, is an
opposing 4 piston fixed (non floating) caliper manu-
factured by Brembo. The caliper assembly is cast alu-
m i n u m and consists of 2 halves bolted together, w i t h
each h a l f having 2 machined bores of unique size for
housing the caliper pistons.
The 4 pistons used i n the front caliper are of dif-
ferent sizes, 2 are 38.0 m m and 2 are 42.0 m m . The
38.0 m m piston is on the bottom w i t h the 42.0 m m
piston on the top as the caliper assembly is mounted
on the vehicle.
The caliper halves are hydraulically connected,
using an external hydraulic brake fluid tube between
the 2 caliper halves. The caliper assembly must have
each h a l f individually bled by the bleeder
screw
located at the top of each caliper half.

Routing
The caliper assembly is bolted directly to the steer-
ing knuckle using 2 bolts going t h r o u g h 2 machined
mounting bosses.
The rear disc brake caliper on the Viper is a single
piston slider-type caliper assembly manufactured by
Brembo. I t is a unique caliper incorporating the dual
function of being the vehicle's service brake as well
as the vehicle's p a r k i n g brake. The p a r k i n g brake
function is i n t e r n a l to the caliper assembly and is
cable actuated.
The master cylinder is anodized, lightweight alu-
m i n u m , w i t h a bore size of 27.0 m m .
The power assist for the Viper brake system is pro-
vided by a vacuum actuated, tandem diaphragm vac-
uum booster. The vacuum booster is manufactured by
Bendix.
