(3) U s i n g voltmeter, connect one lead to ground
and the other lead to the positive w i r e t e r m i n a l (Fig.
4).
(4) Depress
the
h o r n
switch,
battery
voltage
should be present.
(5) I f not repair as necessary.
(6) U s i n g ohmmeter, test ground w i r e for continu-
i t y to ground.
(7) I f no ground repair as necessary.

HORN RELAY
(1) Remove h o r n relay.
(2) U s i n g ohmmeter, test for continuity between
ground and cavity 12 of h o r n relay.
(a) W h e n the h o r n switch is not depressed, no
continuity should be present.
(b) C o n t i n u i t y to ground w h e n h o r n switch is
depressed.
(c) I f continuity is not correct repair h o r n switch
or w i r i n g as necessary, refer to Group 8W, W i r i n g
Diagrams.
(3) Insert a j u m p e r w i r e between cavity 10 and 36
of the Power Distribution Center.
(a) I f h o r n sounds replace relay.
(b) I f the horn does not sound, i n s t a l l horn relay
and refer to H o r n Test.
(4) Using voltmeter, test voltage at:
(a) Cavity 10 and cavity 36, for battery voltage
supplied by the h o r n fuse.
(b) I f voltage is incorrect repair as necessary.
Refer to Group 8W, W i r i n g Diagrams.
(5) Check relay for 70 to 75 ohms
resistance
between
Pins
10 and
12. I f resistance not OK,
replace relay.
HORN SYSTEM
Refer to H o r n System Test. I f the h o r n does not
sound, check horn fuse located i n the Power D i s t r i -
bution Center (PDC). I f the fuse is blown, replace
w i t h the correct fuse. I f the h o r n fails to sound and
the new fuse blows when depressing the h o r n switch,
a short circuit i n the h o r n or the h o r n w i r i n g
between the fuse t e r m i n a l and the h o r n is responsi-
ble, or a defective h o r n switch allowed the h o r n to
b u r n out.
I f the fuse is OK, test h o r n relay. Refer to H o r n
Relay Test.
I f the relay is OK, test horn. Refer to H o r n System
Test.
C A U T I O N :
C o n t i n u o u s s o u n d i n g of h o r n m a y
c a u s e h o r n relay to fail.
Should the h o r n sound continuously:
• U n p l u g the horn relay from Power Distribution
Center.
• Refer to H o r n Relay Test.
