1. L o w fluid level in p o w e r s t e e r i n g
s y s t e m .
2. Tires not inflated to specified
pressure.
3. Lack of lubrication in the front
s u s p e n s i o n u p p e r or lower control
a r m ball joints.
4. W o r n upper or lower ball joint.
5. Lack of lubrication in front
s u s p e n s i o n outer tie rod e n d s .
6. L o o s e p o w e r s t e e r i n g p u m p drive
belt.
7. Faulty p o w e r steering p u m p flow
control. (Verify c a u s e using P o w e r
Steering P u m p Test Procedure.)
8 . Excessive friction in steering
c o l u m n or intermediate shaft.
9. Steering c o l u m n c o u p l e r binding.
10. Binding upper or lower ball joint.
11. E x c e s s i v e friction in steering
gear.
1. Fill p o w e r steering fluid reservoir to
specified level a n d perform leakage
diagnosis.
2. Inflate tires to the specified pressure.
3. Properly lubricate ball joints. If
lubricating ball joint d o e s nt correct
condition, replace lower ball joint or
upper control a r m .
4. R e p l a c e the upper control a r m or
lower control a r m ball joint.
5. Lubricate tie rod e n d s .
6. Tighten the p o w e r steering p u m p
drive belt to t h e specified t e n s i o n . S e e
a c c e s s o r y drive in service m a n u a l .
7. R e p l a c e p o w e r steering p u m p .
8 . Correct condition. (See Steering
C o l u m n Service Procedure)
9. Realign the steering c o l u m n to
eliminate the binding condition.
10. Replace the upper control a r m or
the lower control a r m ball joint as
required.
11. Replace steering gear assembly.
