REMOVE
(1) Disconnect p r i m a r y and secondary brake tubes
(Fig. 99) from master cylinder housing. I n s t a l l plugs
at brake tube outlets.
(2)
Remove 2 nuts (Fig. 99) attaching master cyl-
inder housing to power brake booster unit.

der, p r o v i d e d that t h e m a s t e r c y l i n d e r h a s b e e n
filled a n d b l e d prior to installation.

Bleed the master cylinder assembly prior to
m o u n t i n g i t on the power brake booster. See Service
Procedures, Master Cylinder Bleeding, i n the section
of the service m a n u a l for the proper procedure.
(2)
Position t h e master cylinder on the studs of
the vacuum booster (Fig. 99). B e s u r e t h e p u s h r o d
o n t h e v a c u u m booster i s c o r r e c t l y a l i g n e d w i t h
the p i s t o n of t h e m a s t e r c y l i n d e r .
(3)
Push the master cylinder up against the front
of the vacuum booster.
(4)
I n s t a l l the master cylinder to vacuum booster
m o u n t i n g nuts (Fig. 99) and t i g h t e n to a torque of 28
N - m (250 i n . lbs.).
(5)
Connect brake tubes to master cylinder p r i -
m a r y and secondary ports. Tighten fittings to a
torque of 17 N - m (145 i n . lbs.).

Remove the p r i m a r y and secondary
brake
tubes from master cylinder (Fig. 100).
(2)
Remove 2 nuts (Fig. 100) attaching the master
cylinder assembly to the vacuum booster.

(3) Carefully
slide the master
cylinder off the
mounting studs on vacuum booster.
(4)
Disconnect the vacuum supply hose from the
intake manifold at the vacuum booster check valve
(Fig.

(5) From under instrument panel, position a small
screwdriver between the center tang on the power
brake booster i n p u t rod to brake pedal p i n retaining
clip (Fig. 102).

Rotate screwdriver enough to allow retainer
clip center tang to pass over end of brake pedal p i n
and p u l l retainer clip off pin. D i s c a r d r e t a i n e r clip.
I t i s n o t to be r e u s e d , r e p l a c e only w i t h a n e w
r e t a i n e r clip.

Remove the four nuts t h a t attach the vacuum
booster to the vehicle dash panel. Nuts are accessible
from under the dash panel i n the area of the steering
column and pedal bracket (Fig. 103).

Slide the vacuum booster up and forward u n t i l
the m o u n t i n g studs on the back of the vacuum
