SPARK PLUG CABLE SERVICE
Failure to route the cables properly could cause the
radio to reproduce ignition noise, cross ignition of the
spark plugs or short circuit the cables to ground.
Clean h i g h tension cables w i t h a cloth moistened
w i t h a non-flammable solvent. Wipe the cables dry.
Check for b r i t t l e or cracked insulation.
Resistance cables are identified by the words E l e c -

IGNITION COIL PACKS
The
system
uses two epoxy
filled
coil
packs
mounted on a bracket at the rear of the engine (Fig.
26). The coil pack on the left side, contains 3 sepa-
rate coils and fires cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7. The
coil pack on the r i g h t side, contains 2 i n d i v i d u a l coils
and fires cylinders 5, 8, 9, and 10.
REMOVAL
(1) Remove cowl cover. Refer to Group 23.
(2) Disconnect electrical connector from coil pack
(Fig. 27).
(3) Remove coil pack m o u n t i n g screws.
(4) Transfer spark plug cables one at a t i m e from
