(8) Remove the shock absorber from the clevis. The
shock absorber is removed from the clevis using
Adapter, Special Tool 6925 (Fig. 111). Adapter, Spe-
cial Tool 6925, locks into the notch i n bottom collar of
shock absorber and is used to t u r n shock absorber
out of the clevis.

(9) Inspect the shock absorber for any condition of
shaft
binding over the full
stroke of the
shock
absorber shaft.
(10) Inspect the components of the shock absorber
for the following:
• Shock absorber upper and lower isolator bush-
ings for damage or deterioration.
• Inspect the coil spring for any sign of damage
and replace i f required.
• Inspect the jounce bumper for cracks and signs
of deterioration.
• Inspect the plastic collar for cracks and signs of
deterioration.
(11) Replace any components of the shock absorber
assembly found to be worn or defective d u r i n g the
inspection, before assembling the shock absorber.

to t h e r e q u i r e d t o r q u e s p e c i f i c a t i o n .
(1) Coat the threads on the shock absorber w i t h
Locktite 225 or an equivalent. Thread the shock
absorber into the clevis by hand as far as possible.
U s i n g Adapter, Special Tool 6925 (Fig. I l l ) , t i g h t e n
the shock absorber to a torque of 68 N - m (50 ft. lbs.).
(2) Install the plastic collar and jounce bumper on
the shaft of the shock absorber. The jounce bumper
must be installed w i t h the tapered end down (Fig.
110).

(3) Install the coil spring on the shock absorber. Be
sure the end of the bottom coil is seated correctly on
the clevis of the shock absorber (Fig. 112).
