INSTALL
(1) I f inspection of stabilizer bar assembly, deter-
mined t h a t stabilizer bar to frame r a i l
bushings
require replacement. I n s t a l l new bushings, by
first
removing old bushing from stabilizer bar by opening
slit and peeling bushing from, stabilizer bar. Then
thoroughly clean stabilizer bar i n area of bushing
contact. I n s t a l l new bushings on stabilizer. bar by
opening slit and wrapping bushing around stabilizer
bar and position i t against the retainer r i n g on sta-
bilizer bar .
(2) I n s t a l l stabilizer bar
back
into vehicle i n
reverse order of removal t h r o u g h wheel opening.
(3) Position bushing retainers
on stabilizer
bar
bushings.
I n s t a l l nuts
and bolts into frame

(4) I n s t a l l the stabilizer bar attaching links on the
stabilizer bar. I n s t a l l the stabilizer bar
attaching

nuts
(Fig. 85).
Tighten the stabilizer bar to attaching l i n k nuts to a
torque of 22 N - m (200 i n . lbs.).
(5) Tighten the 4 stabilizer bar bushing retainer to
frame r a i l attaching nuts and bolts (Fig. 87) to 68
N - m (50 ft. lbs.)
(6) I n s t a l l the wheel and t i r e assembly. Tighten
the wheel m o u n t i n g stud nuts . i n proper sequence
u n t i l a l l nuts are torqued to h a l f specification. Then
repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque of
122 N - m (90 ft. lbs.).
(7) Lower the vehicle to the ground.
STABILIZER BAR ATTACHING LINKS
The stabilizer bar attaching l i n k s used on the rear
stabilizer bar of the Viper can be replaced w i t h o u t
removing the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.
REMOVE
(1) Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a
frame contact type hoist. See H o i s t i n g i n the L u b r i -
cation and Maintenance section of this manual for
the required lifting procedure to be used for this
vehicle.
(2) Remove the rear wheel and t i r e from the side
of the vehicle requiring, attaching l i n k replacement.
(3) Loosen but do not remove nut, attaching .rear
stabilizer bar attaching l i n k to the lower control a r m
(Fig. 88). Thread the n u t to the end of the stabilizer
bar attaching l i n k stud (Fig. 88).

C A U T I O N : T h e nut m u s t b e p o s i t i o n e d at the e n d of
t h e stabilizer b a r a t t a c h i n g link s t u d w h e n r e m o v i n g
it f r o m t h e lower c o n t r o l a r m . T h i s will p r e v e n t the
e n d o f t h e s t u d f r o m b e i n g d a m a g e d w h e n r e m o v -
ing it f r o m t h e lower c o n t r o l a r m .
(4) Remove the stabilizer bar attaching l i n k from
the lower control a r m using the following procedure.
Position the attaching J i n k n u t at the end of attach-
i n g l i n k stud (Fig. 89). Position a center punch i n the
hole on the end of the attaching, l i n k stud (Fig. 89).
Strike the center punch, to remove the-attaching l i n k
stud from the lower control arm.
(5) Remove the n u t m o u n t i n g the stabilizer bar
attaching l i n k to the stabilizer bar (Fig. 90).
C A U T I O N :
Do not u s e a p i c k l e fork or other s i m i l a r
t y p e tool to s e p a r a t e s w a y b a r link f r o m lower c o n -
trol a r m b r a c k e t or s w a y bar. U s e of t h i s t y p e of
tool m a y d a m a g e s e a l or ball joint.
(6) I n s t a l l Puller, Special Tool M B 9 9 1 1 1 3 , on the
stabilizer bar and, attaching l i n k (Fig. 91). Using
Puller, Special Tool MB991113 separate the stud on
the attaching l i n k from the stabilizer bar.
INSTALL
(1) I n s t a l l the stabilizer.bar attaching l i n k into the
lower control arm. I n s t a l l the stabilizer bar attaching
