ROUTINE LEVEL CHECK
Do not remove pressure bottle cap f o r r o u t i n e
coolant level inspections.
The coolant deaeration pressure bottle provides a
quick visual method for determining the coolant level
w i t h o u t removing the pressure cap. W i t h the engine
cold the level of the coolant i n the coolant pressure
bottle should be above the top seam of bottle. *

When additional coolant is needed to m a i n t a i n this
level, i t is necessary to fill the coolant recovery bottle
through the overflow hose. Remove the hose from the
pressure bottle neck, to fill the coolant recovery bot-
tle (Fig. 12). No access is provided to the coolant bot-
tle
cap. Use only 50/50 concentration of ethylene
glycol type antifreeze and water.

(1) Install radiator drain plug.
(2) Install the cylinder block drain plugs.
(3) Slowly f i l l coolant pressure bottle.
(4) I t may be necessary to bleed air from the cool-
ing system. This can be done by using the following
procedures:
-
a. Ensure the heater control valve is i n the open
position.
* b. Remove cooling system bleed plug from thermo-
stat housing (Fig. 14).
