SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The Viper uses a short and long a r m design, inde-
pendent suspension on both the front and rear of the
vehicle. The upper and lower control arms are
attached to steering
knuckles
using
conventional
style ball joints. O n the front suspension, the steer-
ing a r m on the knuckle is forward of the front wheel
centerline. The front steering knuckles are attached
to the vehicle's steering rack by outer t i e rod ends
(Fig. 1).
On the Viper rear suspension, a knuckle similar to
the front steering knuckle is used. The rear knuckle
is also attached to the upper and lower control arms
using conventional style ball joints, as i n the front.
The rear knuckle remains stationary when the vehi-
cle is steered, b u t the knuckle steering arms are
attached to the frame of the vehicle using toe links.
The toe links are used to adjust rear wheel toe and
vehicle toe pattern through out the vehicle suspen-
sion travel. The rear toe links mount j u s t inboard of
the rear frame rails and have a flex j o i n t to allow for
suspension movement (Fig. 2).
