I N F O R M A T I O N
INTRODUCTION
The Viper utilizes an Electronic E n t r y Module
(EEM), This system replaces the Vehicle Theft A l a r m
Module. The Security function allows the vehicle to
be armed actively ( w i t h the radio frequency transmit-
ter) or passively (using the lock/unlock switch w i t h
keys out of the Ignition and the driver's door open).
The vehicle is disarmed by pressing the unlock but-
ton
on the radio frequency transmitter. A n armed
vehicle w i l l alarm i f either door, t h e hood or the lift-
glass are opened.
The vehicle cannot be started
unless i t is disarmed. A n y attempt to do so w i l l cause
the a l a r m to sound.
OPERATION
The system can be actively armed by pressing t h e
lock button on the key fob. The system responds w i t h
a single horn chirp, i f the message is from a v a l i d
(programmed) key fob. The system w i l l passively a r m
i f the ignition is turned off and t h e key is removed,
the hood and liftglass are closed a n d a door is open,
pressing the lock button on t h e door and closing t h e
door w i l l a r m the system. The security L E D w i l l
flash at a 10% duty cycle. The system can only be
disarmed w i t h a programmed k e y fob. W h e n t h e
alarm is tripped, the park lamps w i l l flash and the
horn w i l l pulse, indicating t h a t t h e vehicle has been
tampered w i t h . The a l a r m can be t r i p p e d by opening
doors, hood, liftglass or t u r n i n g t h e ignition on. Once
tripped, the alarm w i l l sound for 2.5 minutes. The
park and t a i l lamps w i l l flash for approximately 18

minutes. The P C M w i l l not allow t h e engine to start.
I f the E E M has been tripped and 18 minutes have
passed, the horn w i l l chirp 3 times upon unlocking
w i t h the key fob to alert the driver t h a t a theft con-
dition may have taken place. N o r m a l disarming w i t h
the key fob w i l l result i n two short h o r n chirps.

ARMING AND DISARMING THE SYSTEM
A R M I N G
The Security System can be armed by two different
methods
(1) The passive a r m i n g method occurs when the
vehicle is locked using a door lock/unlock switch
while the ignition is off, the hood and liftglass are
closed and a door is opened. The closing of the vehi-
cle door(s) w i l l start t h e 15 seconds a r m the system.
The A l a r m Set indicator L E D (Fig. 1) w i l l flash at a
10% duty cycle.
(2) The active method of a r m i n g takes place upon
receiving a lock signal from the electronic entry mod-
ule w i t h ignition switch i n the OFF position and a l l
doors, hood, and liftglass closed.
DISARMING
The system can be disarmed by unlocking the vehi-
cle w i t h the transmitter or by t u r n i n g off the system
w i t h the VTSS D i s a r m Switch located i n the top of
the storage box i n the center of t h e rear bulkhead
t r i m panel.
