Shroud
(33) Remove the retaining clip (Fig. 38) used to
attaching w i r i n g trough to steering column. Remove
the w i r i n g trough from the steering column.
(34) Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
Use care to avoid damaging the paint or the interior
t r i m of the vehicle.

(1) Re sure ground clip (Fig. 39) is installed over
plastic capsule on left side of the steering column
upper m o u n t i n g bracket.

(2) Install
steering column i n vehicle w i t h the
steering column shaft through hole i n dash panel.
Position mounting flange on end of steering column
on studs i n dash panel. Lay the top of the steering
column on the driver seat of the vehicle.
(3) Install w i r i n g harness and w i r i n g harness
trough on steering column. Install retaining clip
holding w i r i n g harness trough to steering column
(Fig. 38)
(4) I n s t a l l t h e s t e e r i n g c o l u m n to i n s t r u m e n t
p a n e l s h r o u d (Fig. 37) on t h e s t e e r i n g c o l u m n .
S h r o u d is i n s t a l l e d b y a l i g n i n g w i t h h o l e s i n
s t e e r i n g c o l u m n j a c k e t a n d p i n o n t i l t mecha-
n i s m .
(5) Lift the top end of steering column into posi-
tion on the instrument panel bracket. Loosely install
the 2 steering column upper mounting bracket
attaching nuts and washers (Fig.
3 6 ) . D o
n o t
t i g h t e n n u t s at t h i s t i m e .
(6) Install the 2 nuts attaching the end of the
steering column to the dash panel (Fig. 3 5 ) . Tighten
the nuts to a torque of 28 N - m (250 i n . lbs.)
