REPAIRING FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT FAILURE

Perform TEST 1A Before Proceeding
START TEST 2A.
DISCONNECT THE
BODY HARNESS
CONNECTOR.**
WITH A TEST LIGHT
CONNECTED TO GROUND,
PROBE THE FUEL LEVEL
SENSOR SIGNAL
CIRCUIT. FIG. 2
KEY OFF. WITH AN
OHMMETER, MEASURE
BETWEEN GROUND AND
THE GROUND CKT
(CAV 8). FIG. 2
*Perform Verification TEST VER-2A.
NOTE: FOR LOCATION
OF ALL COMPONENTS.
SEE GENERAL INFO 4.0
KEY ON.
WITH A VOLTMETER,
MEASURE THE FUEL
LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL
CIRCUIT. FIG. 2
**Check connectors - Clean / repair as necessary.

REMOVING THE REAR
SEAT CUSHION. FIG. 1

NO
ABOVE 10.0 VOLTS?
YES
IS THE TEST LIGHT
YES
ILLUMINATED?
NO
IS THE RESISTANCE
NO
BELOW 5.0 OHMS?
YES
CONTINUE TEST
2A ON THE NEXT
PAGE.
REPAIR THE FUEL
LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL
CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT
TO VOLTAGE. IF OK,
REPLACE BCM.*
REPAIR THE OPEN
GROUND CIRCUIT.*
CHECK THE FUEL PUMP
JUMPER HARNESS FOR
AN OPEN OR SHORT. IF
OK, REPLACE THE FUEL
LEVEL SENDING UNIT.*
