Remove the brake pedal positioning tool (Fig.
63).
(5) I f the brake shoes need to be installed i n the
caliper, do the brake shoe installation at this time.
Refer to F r o n t Disc Brake Shoe i n the removal and
installation section i n this group of the service man-
ual for the proper brake shoe installation procedure.

Bleed both front brake calipers. See Brake
Bleeding i n the Service Procedures section, i n this
group of the service manual for the required bleeding
procedure.
(7)
I n s t a l l the wheel and tire assemblies. Tighten
the wheel m o u n t i n g stud nuts i n proper sequence
u n t i l a l l nuts are torqued to h a l f specification. Then
repeat the tightening sequence to the full specified
torque of 122 N - m (90 ft. lbs.).

Remove jackstands
or lower hoist. B e f o r e

(9) Road test the vehicle and make several stops to
wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to
seat the brake shoe linings. See Brake B u r n i s h Pro-
cedure i n the Service Procedures
section i n this
group of the service manual for the correct procedure
i f N E W brake shoe assemblies were installed.
FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTOR
B E H O V E
(1)
Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a
hoist. See Hoisting i n the Lubrication and Mainte-
nance section of this manual, for the required lifting
procedure to be used for this vehicle.
(2)
Remove the tire and wheel from the vehicle.
(3)
Remove the attaching bolt for the front hub/
bearing u n i t used to mount the brake flex hose
bracket to the steering knuckle (Fig. 67).

(4) Remove the 2 bolts attaching the brake caliper
to the steering knuckle (Fig. 68). Remove the brake
caliper from the steering knuckle.

Support the front disc brake caliper by hang-
i n g i t from the upper control a r m using mechanics
w i r e (Fig. 69). Do not let caliper assembly hang by
brake hose.

(6) Remove the front rotor from the hub/bearing.
INSTALL
(1)
Install rotor on hub/bearing assembly.
(2)
Install the disc brake caliper on the steering
knuckle.
(3) Install the brake caliper attaching bolts (Fig.
68) and tighten to a torque of 115 N - m (85 ft. lbs.).
(4) A l i g n the brake hose bracket w i t h the hole i n
steering knuckle. I n s t a l l the hub and bearing assem-
bly attaching bolt (Fig. 67). Tighten the hub and
bearing assembly attaching bolt to a torque of 61
N-m (45 ft. lbs.). -
