Fuel Line/Ouick-Connect Fittings Installation (cont'dl
3. Before connecting a new fuel tube/quick-connect
fitting assembly {A), remove the old retainer from
t h e m a t i n g l i n e .
4. Align the quick connect fittings with the line (A),
a n d a l i g n t h e r e t a i n e r { B ) l o c k i n g p a w l s w i t h t h e
connector (C) grooves. Then press the quick-
connect fittings onto the line until both retainer
pawls lock with a clicking sound
NOTE: lf it is hard to connect. put a small amount of
n e w e n g i n e o i l o n t h e l i n e e n d .

Reconnection to existing retainer:
5. Make sure the connection is secure and that the
pawls are firmly locked into place; check visually
and by pulling the connector.
6. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery, and
t u r n t h e i g n i t i o n s w i t c h O N { l l ) . T h e f u e l p u m p w i l l
run for about 2 seconds, and fuel pressure will rise.
Repeat 2 or 3 times, and check that there is no
leakage in the fuel supply system.
