Disconnect ECM connector A (32P).
Check for the continuity betvveen ECM connector
terminal A28 and body ground.

ls there continuity?
YES Repair short in the wire between the air
pump relay and the EcM (A28).1
NO Go to step 28.
Connect small air pump relay 2P connector

Wire side of female terminals
29. Check for continuity between ECM connector
terminal A28 and body ground
ECM CONNECTOR A I32PI

ls there continuity?
YES Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck
(see page 1 1-5). lf the symptom/indication goes
a w a y , r e p l a c e t h e o r i g i n a l E c M . l
NO- Repair open in the wire between the air pump
relay and the Ecl\4 (A28).I
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
D i s c o n n e c t t h e j u m p e r w i r e f r o m t h e l a r g e a i r
pump relay 2P connector.
Disconnect the air pump 2P connector.
