Heater and Ventilation System Symptom Diagnosis

For Z13DT Engine Model
Condition
Blower motor dose
not work even when
its switch is at operat-
ing position.
Blower speed selec-
tor dose not work
when its switch is at
maximum airflow
position.
Incorrect temperature
output.
When mode control
lever is changed, air
outlet port dose not
change or lever posi-
tion disagree with air
outlet port.

Diagnosis

Possible Cause
Fuse blown
Blower motor resistor faulty
Blower speed selector faulty
Blower motor faulty
Wiring or grounding faulty
Blower speed selector faulty
Wiring or grounding faulty
Control cables broken or binding
Temperature control lever faulty
Position of control cable clamp is faulty
Temperature control door assembly broken
Air ducts clogged
Heater core leaking or clogged
Heater hoses leaking or clogged
Thermostat faulty
Fuse blown
Supplementary heater faulty
Supplementary heater controller faulty
Supplementary heater relay faulty
Water temperature sensor faulty
Full hot switch faulty
Control cable broken or binding
Airflow control lever faulty
Position of control cable clamp is faulty
Control doors broken
Air ducts leaking or clogged

Correction
Check "HEATER" fuse and main
heater fuse, and then check for short
circuit to ground.
Check blower motor resistor.
Check blower speed selector.
Replace blower motor.
Repair as necessary.
Check blower speed selector.
Check wiring and grounding, and
then repair as necessary.
Check control cables.
Check temperature control lever.
Check position and adjust it as nec-
essary.
Repair temperature control door
assembly.
Repair air ducts.
Replace heater core.
Replace heater hoses.
Replace thermostat case assembly
referring to Section 6B3.
Check supplementary heater fuses.
Check supplementary heater (if
equipped).
Check supplementary heater con-
troller (if equipped).
Check supplementary heater relay (if
equipped).
Check water temperature sensor (if
equipped).
Check full hot switch (if equipped).
Check control cable.
Check airflow control lever.
Check position and adjust it as nec-
essary.
Repair control doors.
Repair air ducts.
