1 . Check the hold-in coil for continuity between the S
terminal and the armature housing (ground).
Coil is OK if there is continuity.
2. Check the pull-in coil for continuity between the S and
M terminals.
Coil is OK if there is continuity.

Starter Replacement
. Disconnect the battery negative (- ) cable.
Remove the engine wire harness from the harness clip
on the starter motor.
Disconnect the starter cable from the B terminal on the
I.
s o l e n o i d , a n d t h e B L K / W H T w i r e f r o m t h e S
terminal.
Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter, and remove
the starter.
UPPER MOUNTING BOLT
45 N-m (4.5 kg-m, 32 lb-ft)
LOWER MOUNTING BOLT
45 N-m (4.5 kg-m, 32 lb-ftl
MOUNTING NUT
9 N-m (0.9 kg-m, 6.5 lb-ft)
