Deflection
method:
Apply a force of 98 N (IO kg, 22 lb)
deflection between the alternator and crankshaft pulley.
Deflection: 12 - 14 mm (0.47 - 0.55 in)
NOTE:
On a brand - new belt, the deflection should be

7 - 9 mm (0.28 - 0.35 in) when first measured.

Tension
gauge
method:
Attach the belt tension gauge to the belt and measure
the tension of the belt.
Tension: 392 - 492 N (40 - 50 kg, 88 - 121 lb)
NOTE:
l
On a brand-new belt, the tension should be 784
measured.
See the instruction for the belt tension gauge.
l
If there are cracks or any damage evident on the
l
belt, replace it with a new one.
ADJUSTING BOLT
6 N-m (0.8 kg-m, 6 lb-ftj

If adjustment is necessary:
Loosen the alternator nut and through bolt.

2.
Move the alternator by turning the adjusting bolt to
obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the bolt
and nut.
3.
Recheck the deflection of the belt.
