Oil pressure gauge
-Gauge Test
NOTE:
Refer to page 23-124 for wiring description of the

coolant
temperature
Check the No.5 (IO A) fuse in the dash fuse box be-
fore
testing.

Make sure the ignition switch is OFF, then discon-
nect the 2-P connector from the oil pressure sending
unit and ground it with a jumper wire.

2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
Check that the pointer of the oil pressure gauge
starts moving toward "8" mark.
CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch OFF before the
pointer reaches "8" mark on the gauge dial. Failure
to turn the ignition OFF quickly enough may cause
damage to the gauge.
check for:
Replace the oil pressure gauge if the fuse and
wiring are normal.
Inspect the engine oil pressure if the gauge is OK.

Replace the oil pressure sending unit if the engine

Raise the car and place safety stands in the proper
locations (See section 1).
2.
Remove the right rear tire.
3. Remove the YEL/RED wire from the oil pressure
switch.
There should be continuity between the positive ter-
minal and the engine (ground) with the engine
stopped. There should be no continuity when the en-
gine runs.

If the switch fails to operate, check the engine oil

level, then inspect the oil pump and pressure if the
oil level is correct (see section 8).
