-Brake Light Failure Sensor Test
1 .
First make sure the brake lights come on when the
brake pedal is pressed.
If none of the brake lights come on, check the
l
brake light circuit (See page 23-204).
If one of the brake lights does not come on, check
l
whether the bulb is blown. If the bulb is OK, go
to step 2.
If all the brake lights come on, go to step 2.

2. Open the trunk lid and remove the trim panel
that covers the right taillight. Make sure the
BRAKE LAMP 1 of the safety indicator does not
come on when the A(WHT/GRN) terminal of the 8-P
connector is grounded and the ignition switch is
turned OFF to ON.

If the BRAKE LAMP comes on, check for an
open in the
indicator, the right failure sensor and whether the
safety indicator circuit has a problem.

Make sure the 1 BRAKE LAMP 1 does not come on
when the ignition switch is turned OFF to ON with
the B(GRN) terminal of the 8-P connector grounded
and the brake pedal pressed.

If the BRAKE LAMP does not come on, go to
step 4.

Remove the rear trim panel that covers the left tail-
light. Make sure the 1 BRAKE LAMP 1 does not come
on when the ignition switch is turned OFF to ON with
the A(GRN) terminal of the 8-P connector grounded
and the brake pedal pressed.

sor and the right failure sensor.

Make sure the FRAKE LAMP ] does not come on
when the ignition switch is turned OFF to ON with
the B(BLK) terminal of the 8-P connector grounded
and the brake pedal pressed.
BRAKE LAMP comes on, replace the left
failure
sensor.
for an open in the B(BLK) wire between the left
failure sensor and ground, and check whether the
G501 terminal is poor.
