ADC Linearity Measurements

The parameters that describe the linearity of an ADC have the
same names as those used for describing the linearity of a DAC.
But they are calculated differently.
• Differential Non-Linearity (DNL)
• Integral Non-Linearity (INL)
• Offset Error
• Full Scale Gain Error
• LSB Gain Error
ADC Static Parameters (Linearity)
A ramp signal is most often used for ADC linearity tests as it
provides a uniform distribution of samples and therefore a
uniform measurement precision.
However, ADC linearity can also be measured by applying a sine
wave.
