Lesson 2 – Introduction to the Test System

If the DUT responds with a stream of digital data, that response is
captured by digital pins and stored in the capture memory.
If the DUT responds with an analog waveform, a Waveform
Digitizer (WD) converts the response signal into numbers and
stores it.
Stimulation and data capturing continue for a predefined period of
time. When the DUT output data has been acquired, the data is
transferred to the workstation via a high speed optical link. Then,
the CPU performs the digital signal processing of the data. The
processing power of modern CPUs exceeds that of traditional
Digital Signal Processors, and at the same time gives more
flexibility, for example, in the choice of processing algorithms.
The DUT input and output signals in mixed-signal testing typically
represent waveforms such as ramps or sine waves. Therefore, the
input and output signals of the DUT are often also called waveforms.
Do not confuse these "waveforms" with the waveforms of the timing
setup for digital pins.
The Single Scalable Platform
The true single scalable platform concept of the SOC Series is fully
maintained for all mixed-signal test components.
