Lesson 5 – Waveform Generation with the Mixed-Signal Tool
How to Use the Multitone Setup Tool
The Multitone Setup Tool consists of three windows that allow you
to
define the individual tones of the waveform in the frequency
domain,
choose an algorithm to determine the phase offsets for the
individual tones,
calculate and view the final waveform in the time domain.
You can switch back and forth between these windows to make
modifications of the waveform definition and see the calculated
results. When you are satisfied with the generated multitone
waveform, you can transfer it to the Generated Waveform display
of the Mixed-Signal Tool.
Multitone Setup Tool Overview
Define the individual tones of the multitone waveform by entering
1
the frequency or the frequency bin, amplitude and phase offset
(optional). You can set up the tones using the dialog window
opened by clicking the Q
With the frequency bin number N and the sampling frequency Fs,
you define the frequency resolution ∆f = Fs/2N. This is the
minimum allowed frequency distance between two tones of the
multitone waveform.
