Lesson 2 – Introduction to the Test System

Digital Channel Boards
A digital board provides 16 digital input or output pins (also called
channels). Each pin has a Parametric Measurement Unit (pin
PMU), programmable load, digital memory, a driver and a
comparator unit.
As the pin PMU returns only pass/fail results, every digital board
contains also a measurement PMU. Every pin can be routed to this
PMU (an ADC) in order to perform DC measurements.
Use of Digital Boards
The memories used to send digital data to the DUT and to capture
a digital response are inherent parts of the 93000 test system.
These memories are located on the digital boards. In fact, the
memory used is the vector memory of the digital pin. Using the
digital boards makes it very easy to source a digital pattern to a
DAC or to capture the digital response of an ADC. No additional
hardware is required.
Also trigger signals to synchronize waveform generation and
waveform capturing is usually generated by a digital pin.
Analog Modules
Generation and capturing of analog waveforms requires special
modules. Most analog modules consist of single, testhead internal
