Lesson 1 – Analog Modules
Input Amplifier
3
The input amplifier determines the input voltage range. Any input
voltage ranges are normalized to a certain voltage range at the
output of the input amplifier.
If the signal to be measured includes a DC component and you
want to measure only AC components, you can eliminate the DC
component by setting a DC offset voltage. The input amplifier
eliminates the DC component according to your setting for the DC
offset voltage. This maximizes the dynamic range for the
measurement of AC components.
Filter
4
The digitizer has several types of low pass filters for anti-aliasing
according to the band of measured signals. The filter removes
harmonics from the input signal.
Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC)
5
The ADC samples the analog signal according to the conversion
clock provided by the timing generator and converts the voltage
levels of the analog signal to digital data. The digital data is stored
in the waveform memory.
Timing Generator
6
The master clock and trigger signal are input to the timing
generator. After receiving the trigger signal, the timing generator
starts to generate the conversion clock by dividing the master
clock and feeds the conversion clock to the ADC. The timing
generator also sends the start signal to the sequencer. The timing
generator stops generating the conversion clock when the
sequencer is halted.
Sequencer and Waveform Memory
7
The sequencer controls the storing of digitized data into the
waveform memory. The conditions for storing digitized data are
specified in the sequencer program that is contained in the
sequencer memory. In the sequence program, one line consists of
the following:
Number of initial discard points.
Waveform label that references the waveform memory area where
the digitized data will be stored.
Number of averages per digitized waveform.
(This hardware averaging is not available in the High speed
digitizer.)
Sequencer instruction HALT that specifies if the measurement is
halted after the current sequencer program line is completed, or
instruction NOP (Next OPeration) to continue with the next line.
