The Dialer interface generates a
message when a change in its
operational state has been
detected. The default state for
the Dialer interface when it is
used as a backup interface for a
WAN link is Standby. When the
primary WAN link has failed and
the backup interface mechanism
is invoked, the state of the Dialer
interface changes to Up.
Informational In a modem dial backup
scenario, the event triggering
the Dialer interface is a failure of
the primary WAN interface for
which the Dialer interface has
been configured as the backup
interface. When the primary
WAN interface has been
determined to be down, a
message is sent indicating the
occurrence of the triggering
event for the Dialer. When the
primary WAN interface is
returned to an operational state,
a message is generated
indicating that the conditions for
triggering the Dialer are no
longer being met, and that the
Dialer can be brought down.
Informational The value of <string_ID> is
equal to the ID of the string
configured using the dialer string
command. The value of
<dialer_string> is equal to the
phone number associated with
the dialer string. For example, if
you configured dialer string 3 to
associate with the phone
number 5551314, and the
modem is attempting to connect
using dialer string 3, the
message received would be
Dialer 1 string 3 5551314.
