Cleaning the Cold Trap Tubes

Oil vapor from the vacuum pumps accumulates in the cold trap. Clean the tubes as follows:
1. Place the analyzer ON/OFF switch in the OFF position and turn off the vacuum
forepumps.
If the high vacuum pump is installed, wait for it to completely stop (approximately
10 minutes).
2. Remove the connector nut from the glass tube and inspect the O-ring. Replace the O-ring
if it is cracked or worn.
3. Carefully slide the glass tube down over the metal tube and remove the glass tube.
4. Rinse the tube with acetone; then dry it.
5. Reinstall the cold trap tube. Make sure the O-rings are in place.
6. Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for the other cold trap.
7. Place the analyzer ON/OFF switch in the ON position, restore power to the vacuum
forepumps.
