Difficult engagement of

Transmission - Mechanical transmission
Possible Cause
Input and output shaft support bearing mis-
adjusted.
Failed or defective inner component.
Internal component seizure due to poor lu-
brication.
Faulty clutch plate springs.
External linkage and levers mis-adjusted. Adjust correctly.
Failed control rail retaining springs.
Partial engagement travel.
External levers mis-adjusted.
External levers stiff or seized.
Internal control items (rails, forks and
sleeves) slide with difficulty.

Correction
Remove transmission housing and adjust
bearings.
Remove housing, overhaul transmission
and replace faulty parts.
Overhaul transmission and top up oil to cor-
rect level.
Replace clutch plates.
Replace springs.
Correct reasons for problem and restore full
travel.
Adjust correctly.
Check pivot points and correct.
Overhaul control items.
