The Vt command will take the user to the highlighted eight terminating WAN facilities. It is
at the traditional WAN level that the operator can change the port facility from standby to
active. The Vt command is a shortcut to the user leaving the OC3 screen, positioning on the
WAN (or OWAN for optically carried facility), and then hitting carriage return. Both routes
will get the user to the same destination.
A note about VT mapping. GR-253-Core defines the VTs into a collection of seven bundles
of four VT's each. For provisioning these VTs are selected as the first group and first port as
VT1, the second group and port 1 as VT2, and so on through the seventh group and VT4. Table
23-2 below illustrates the VT mappings as defined by GR-253-CORE
