23.2.1.2 Faceplate Descriptions

The faceplate on the IMACS OC3 Server cards has connections for five different interfaces
and devices. Port 1 and port 2 are SFP cages to enable our customers to use OC3 dual-LC
optical SFPs. The ETH port is also for an SFP, this one running a GigE interface. The RDNT
port is for card redundancy to be implemented at a future time. Lastly, the T1/E1 connector
provides a connection point for sixteen local but external T1/E1 facilities to be connected in
and passed through the OC3 card to the far end destination. These sixteen facilities do not
touch the IMACS backplane, but simply provide a ingress point for the optical egress. At this
time we only support T1 facilities.
