NTERFACE
The E1 interface provides a transmission rate of 2.048 Mbps. It can support up to
32 user channels, though usually 31 channels are used as dedicated user
channels in framed mode.
An E1 basic frame is made up of 256 bits, 32 timeslots, each containing 8 bits.
Each timeslot provides a 64 Kbps data throughput. An E1 line connects two points
in one of which, the information is multiplexed and in the second demultiplexed.

UNCTIONALITIES
The 32 time slots of an E1 card are denoted by TS0, TS1,........TS31, respectively.
Their individual functionalities are given below.
TS0 is dedicated for synchronization, alarms and messages, unless configured
differently.
TS16 is usually used for signaling, but can carry data as well.
TS1-TS15 and TS17-TS31 are used for carrying user data.
