Major adjustment:
Adjust the parking brake shoe lining-to-drum clearance
with the adjuster in the drum of each rear wheel.
NOTE: Make sure the parking brake linings are not worn
beyond the service limit (see page 19-23).
If either lining is worn beyond the limit, both brake
shoes must be replaced.
CAUTION: After replacing the linings, make sure you
drive the vehicle for "break-in" purposes. Refer to page
19-27
for the lining surface brake-in procedure.

Raise the rear wheels off the ground, and support
the vehicle on safety stands.
Block the front wheels before jacking
up the rear of the vehicle.

Remove the rear wheels.
3.
Remove the rear console end cover.
4.
Release the parking brake pedal, and back off the
adjusting nut in the equalizer.

Turn the brake shoe adjuster up with a flat blade
screwdriver until the shoes lock, then back off 8
stops.

Check the number of clicks by pressing the parking
brake pedal with 294 N (30 kgf, 66 Ibf) force.
Pedal Locked Clicks: 6-8
7.
Adjust the parking brake with the adjusting nut in
the equalizer if the pedal clicks are out of specifica-
tion.
8.
Install the rear console end cover.
9.
Install the rear wheels, and lower the vehicle.
