BATTERY CHARGER

Battery Isolator
Overview
Your vessel features a 60 amp automatic battery charger.
The batttery charger is uses alternating current to func-
tion. The charger changes (AC) alternating current to DC
It delivers voltage through the battery isolator which se-
lects the batteries that need charging and then sends regu-
lated voltage through the isolator to the appropriate bat-
teries.
For the battery charger to operate the shore power cords
must be installed if at dockside. The generator must be
operating if at sea. Locate the battery charger breaker
switch on the ship's AC distribution panel. Turn on the
breaker to start the charging cycle.
Irregular conditions or loads may cause one or more of
the internal fuses to blow. Make sure there is no AC power
to the unit before replacing fuses by disconnecting the
shore power cords. The battery charge is of the self-limit-
ing type.

Operation
When power is applied, the charger will enter a "constant
current" mode, during which a higher rate of charge is
achieved to fully refurbish the batteries. When the bat-
teries are near a full charge, the output current will de-
crease and the charger will enter a timed absorption mode.
After 4 hours in the absorption mode, the output will
drop to a float rate to maintain the batteries at a tempera-
ture compensated finishing voltage (13.6 VDC @ at 77
degrees Fahrenheit for lead acid batteries).
