Gas Generator-Changing Oil

RECOMMENDED OIL VISCOSITY GRADES

Use the service schedule to determine when to change
engine oil. Use the chart above to determine correct oil
viscosity based on the temperature where the generator
is used.
Always warm the engine before changing oil. This will
help remove any sludge and deposits from the crankcase.
Replace oil filter each time generator oil is changed.
Note: Oil capacity is 1.44 US quarts with filter.
To change oil do the following:
1. Warm up the generator. Stop the generator.
2. To drain the oil, open the oil-drain valve. See the parts
illustration shown earlier in this section.
3. Drain the oil into a container. Dispose of used oil in
an environmentally friendly manner.
4. Close the oil drain valve.
5. Loosen the oil filter by turning it counterclockwise. It
may require an oil filter wrench to break it free. Remove
the oil filter and use a rag to catch any spilled oil. Dispose
of in an environmentally friendly manner.
6. Clean the surface of the oil filter adapter.
7. Use a small amount of fresh oil on the new oil filter
gasket surface.
8. Thread the new oil filter on the adapter until the gasket
makes contact and hand-tighten the filter an extra one half
turn.
9. Remove the oil fill cap.
10. Replace the oil as recommended on the page opposite.
11. Replace the oil cap.
12. Make sure the dipstick is inserted in the tube.
13. Start the generator and check for leaks.
14. Stop the generator. Remove the dipstick. Wipe it with
a soft clean rag. Reinsert the dipstick. Ensure it is
completely down in the tube. Pull it out and check level.
Add oil to the full mark.
