GAS/DIESEL GENERATOR

If equipped, the generator must be commissioned for
storage in freezing climates. Your Regal dealer or marine
professional has special training along with the necessary
parts for winterizing your generator.
If tackling the procedure yourself, here are the basics of
winterizing the generator. Refer to your generator manual
for further information. The vessel must be in the water
for the procedures below. Remove the sound shield
enclosure if equipped.
1. Start the generator and let run for 1/2 hour or until it
reaches normal operationg temperatures.
2. Stop the generator. Change the oil as specified earlier
along with the oil filter.
3. Close the seacock and remove the hose. Place the hose
in a container having a capacity of 1-2 US gallons of an
environmentally friendly antifreeze such as PEAK® RV/
marine propylene glycol/water mix or equivalent.
4. Disconnect the lead (#87) to the low seawater pressure
switch (LWP).
5. With a suitable container at the hull exhaust outlet,
run the generator until coolant discharges at the exhaust
outlet or until depleting the coolant mixture. Do not allow
coolant mixture to flow into the environment.
6. Reconnect the lead (#87) to the low seawater switch
(LWP).
7. Turn off the generator fuel valve. Let the unit run
until it is out of fuel.
8. Stop the generator.
9. Connect the hose to the seacock. Leave the seacock
closed.
10. Check the coolant hose of the heat exchanger and
add coolant if necessary ( make sure suitable for lowest
temperature of the stored environment).
11. Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank.
12. Spray a rust preventative over any exposed areas that
may develop rust.
13. Disconnect the battery cables at the battery.
14. Reinstall the sound shield to keep debris out of the
generator.
