Generator- Diesel Fuel System Overview
Air can accumulate in the generator fuel system and cause
starting failures or rough operation. Causes during nor-
mal operation of the vessel may require the system be
bled.
1. Operating the generator unit until it runs out of fuel.
2. Developing air leaks between the fuel tank and the
engine mounted fuel pump.
3. Replacing the fuel filter.
Generator- Diesel Fuel System Bleeding
To bleed air from the diesel generator fuel system use the
following procedure with the sound shield removed:
1. Loosen the fuel filter screw at position 1 per the illus-
tration.
2. Initiate the auto/start sequence until fuel, free of air
bubbles, flows from the vent screw at position 1. Tighten
the screw.
3. Loosen the fuel filter screw at position 2.
4. Initiate the auto/start sequence until fuel, free of air
bubbles, flows from the vent screw at position 2. Tighten
the screw.
5. Loosen the fuel injection pump screw at position 5.
6. Initiate the auto/start sequence until fuel, free of air
bubbles, flows from the vent screw at position 5. Tighten
the screw.
