ISOLATOR-GALVANIC

OVERVIEW
The galvanic isolator connects to your electric/bonding
(Green wire) between shore ground and the vessel's
grounding system. The purpose of the galvanic isolator is
to allow the bonding system to be isolated electrically
from the dock and other vessels at low voltages (below
1.4 volts) but to keep it connected to the shore power
ground at high voltage potentials. This is so the vessel's
zincs protect only the vessel they are on. You may have
heard the term "zinc saver" a term often used to describe
a galvanic isolator
There is a monitor that connects to your vessel's electri-
cal/bonding system for about 20 seconds out of a day.
Each time the vessel is connected to AC shore power or
the monitor is activated by the push to test button, or
every 3 hours after that the monitor performs a series of
tests.
1. Polarity test
2. Ground wire continuity and galvanic isolator integrity
test.
The test results are visible on the display panel which is
mounted inside the AC/DC distribution panel.
