STERN DRIVE PROPELLERS

We have carefully tested and chosen
the propellers to give your boat the
best possible performance and have
allowed for the additional weight in
equipment that might be added to the
boat.
It is a good idea to carry a spare set of propellers and
hand tools in order to handle an emergency propeller
change. Refer to the maintenance chapter or this manual
for propeller changing information.
Contact a propeller shop or your closest Regal dealer if
any of the above symptoms exist. Propeller shops have
special equipment to refurbish both stainless steel and
aluminum propellers. After making any blade alternations
the propellers are "repitched" in special prop jigs.
NOTICE
NEVER CONTINUOUSLY RUN WITH A
DAMAGED PROPELLER SINCE
DRIVE UNIT AND ENGINE DAMAGE
COULD RESULT.
In an emergency propeller remember to take off the
hardware and lay it out for correct reassembly. Always
use genuine marine manufacturer replacement parts.
DANGER
!
PREVENT SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH!
SHUT OFF IGNITION SWITCH
NEAR SWIMMERS
TO AVOID ROTATING PROPELLER BLADES.

PROPELLER CHECKLIST

At least twice a year check the propeller for:
Loose, missing or corroded hardware.
Nicks, dings or missing propeller material
Bent propeller blades.
Objects wrapped around the prop such as fish line.
Decomposing propeller blades
(electrolysis symptom).
Aluminum prop with paint coming off near blade tip
(ventilation symptom).
Send the propellers out to a local shop to have the
propeller hub checked for slippage.
NOTICE
A POSSIBLE INDICATION
OF A SLIPPING PROPELLER HUB
IS WHEN THE BOAT IS
NOT RUNNING TO SPECIFIED SPEEDS OR
THE TACHOMETER SHOWS EXCESSIVE
RPM OF ONE ENGINE
OVER THE OTHER ENGINE.
A SLIPPING HUB IN A PROPELLER
CAN NOT DEVELOP THE NEEDED THRUST
AND LOSES EFFICIENCY.
