GENERATOR-GAS/DIESEL

OVERVIEW
As optional equipment, Regal installs a 7.3 Kw Kohler
gas or 8 Kw diesel generator. The units features a sound
shield enclosure for lower decibels and a digital control-
ler for diagnostics and system monitoring.
Information enclosed here represents the latest at the time
of print. More detailed information can be found in the
Kohler generator operating manual, by visiting
KohlerPowerSystems.com, or by calling toll free 1-800-
544-2444.
Carefully read and follow all procedures and safety in-
structions to ensure proper equipment operation and to
avoid bodily injury. Reference the Kohler service require-
ments which can be located in the maintenance chapter.
Note: Where diesel generator information differs from
gasoline generators special notation is made by bolded
and slanted type.
Equipment Operation
OPERATION
Perform the following inspections and checks before each
startup, as designated, and at regular intervals as noted in
the service schedule.
1. Air Inlets- Check for clean and unclogged air inlets.
2. Air Shrouding- Ensure the sound shield is securely
fastened and postioned correctly.
3. Backfire Flame Arrestor- Check for a clean flame
arrestor to prevent unfiltered air from entering generator.
4. Battery- Check for proper electrolyte level. Make sure
all battery connections are secure.
5. Coolant Level- Check the reservior for proper levels.
6. Exhaust System- Check for exhaust leaks and block-
ages. Check the silencer and piping condition and check
for tight exhaust component connections.
Inspect the exhaust parts (exhaust manifold, catalyst, ex-
haust hose, hose clamps, silencer and outlet flapper) for
cracks, leaks and corrosion.
♦ Check hoses for cracks, softness, dents, or leaks. Re-
place as necessary..
♦ Check for corroded or broken metal parts. Replace as
necessary.
♦ Check for loose, missing or corroded hose clamps. Re-
place or tighten the hose clamps and hangers as needed.
♦ Check that the exhaust outlet is unobstructed.
♦ Visually inspect for exhaust leaks (blowby). Check for
carbon or soot residue on exhaust parts which indicate an
exhaust leak. Seal leaks as needed.
♦ Ensure the CO detector on the vessel is functional
and energized when the generator is running.
