MICROWAVE OVEN
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read all the instructions before using the microwave.
2. Some products such as whole eggs and sealed contain-
ers such as closed glass jars are able to explode and should
not be used in the microwave.
3. Do not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this oven.
4. Use close supervision when used by children.
5. Do not overcook food. Keep a close watch on the
oven if paper, plastic or other combustible materials are
placed in the oven to facilitate cooking.
6. Remove wire twist-ties from products before placing
in oven.
7. If materials in oven should ignite, keep oven door closed
and turn the breaker off at the ship's AC panel.
8. Do not use the microwave for storage purposes.
9. Do not leave anything in an unused microwave.
10. Do not service the microwave yourself. Call an au-
thorized service center. See the microwave owner's
manual for a listing of repair stations.
11. Liquids such as coffee, tea & water are able to be
heated beyond the normal boiling point without appear-
ing to be boiling. Liquids such as this could boil over
when the container is disturbed or a utensil is inserted in
the liquid.
a. Do not overheat liquids.
b. Do not use straight-necked containers with narrow
necks.
c. Stir the liquid before & halfway through cooking it.
d. After heating let the container stand a few minutes.
e. Use care when inserting utensils in the liquid.
Equipment Operation
12. Do not heat oil or fat for deep-frying. Oil tempera-
tures are difficult to control in a microwave oven.
13. Pierce skins of foods with heavy skins before cooking
such as potatoes, whole squash, apples and chestnuts.
14. After heating baby feeding bottles the temperature
should be checked before serving to infants.
15. Cooking utensils may become hot because of heat
transferred from the food. Use of potholders is recom-
mended.
16. Do not cover or block any openings of the micro-
wave.
17. Use only thermometers specifically designed for mi-
crowave ovens.
18. When cleaning the microwave use mild, nonabrasive
soaps or detergents applied with a soft cloth. Do not use
any metal based scrubbers or harsh cleaners.
