INTRODUCTION

This chapter covers stern drive & V-drive propulsion
systems separately since the vessel is offered both ways.
Information related to both propulsion systems is
presented together at the beginning of this chapter.
It is important that you read all engine manuals carefully
and become completely familiar with the operation as
well as necessary maintenance requirements on the
engine itself and related propulsion system.
If this is your first boat, learn to operate the boat in a
controlled environment where you can practice shifting
and docking operations at your own pace. Learn how the
vessel's engines and propulsion systems behave at
different speeds, in different seas, and under various load
conditions.
To prevent possible fire or explosion, check the engine
compartment for fuel fumes and leaks before each outing
(before starting engines) and after each outing (after
stopping engines). Always smell for the presence of gas
fumes. This procedure will help you detect fuel, coolant,
or oil leaks and to spot anything else unusual that has
occurred or is about to take place.
If powered by stern drives raise the drives and check the
drive housings and propellers for obstructions, fish line
and damage.
On V-drive vessels ensure that the all seacocks are open
and the sea water strainers are clear of debris.
Your Regal dealer has been factory trained on various
vessel systems. Consult your Regal dealer for further
information regarding technical support and parts.
